Québec
Québec, Canada: 11 ecoregions. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.
Landscape and climate
Eleven ecoregions reach Québec and the province crosses the full gradient from mixed hardwood forest to arctic tundra. The Northeastern Hardwoods, Eastern Great Lakes lowland forests and Gulf of St. Lawrence lowland forests cover the settled south, and the first two are in the Nature Imperiled tier. Through the middle run the Eastern Canadian Forest-Boreal transition, Central Canadian Shield forests, Eastern Canadian forests and Eastern Canadian Shield taiga. The north holds the Canadian Low Arctic tundra, Canadian Middle Arctic Tundra, Southern Hudson Bay taiga and Torngat Mountain tundra. Nearly all gardening happens in the St. Lawrence valley, which is the mildest and the most converted part of that list, and where the native hardwood palette applies.
