About Plotwright

Plotwright is a reference for gardeners, designers, and educators. It covers hundreds of garden plants and the world’s terrestrial ecoregions, and grades each plant’s climate fit for a place - under the climate that place has now, and under the climate projected for mid-century. The aim is a plain answer to a practical question: will this plant belong here, and will it still belong here in 2050?

Plotwright is built and edited by Arteractive LLC, a small independent software studio registered in Indiana, United States. There is no content farm and no syndication: every page on this site was created for this site, through the editorial workflow described below.

Every record starts from named, published sources - botanical gardens, university extensions, government plant databases, and the published climate standards listed on the sources page. Facts carry per-field citations to the source they came from, and the source catalog documents each provider and its license.

Drafting uses software tools, including automated ones, but a record is never published as it was ingested: prose is authored and checked against its sources, every photograph is reviewed by eye before it appears, and each record carries its content review date. The climate numbers follow the method documented on the data and methods page, which names every standard and dataset involved.

The catalog is a living document: records are revised as sources update and as errors are found. If something on this site is wrong, please say so through the contact page - corrections ship in the next content release, and every page’s citation block carries the retrieval date so a claim can always be traced to the version that made it.

Plotwright runs no advertising networks and sells no data. Some outbound links are affiliate links, disclosed on the disclosure page; an affiliate relationship never changes what the catalog says about a plant, and climate-fit grades are computed from the data alone.
