El lobito agreste (Pyronia tithonus), también llamado loba de seto, es una mariposa anaranjada y parda de tamaño medio de la familia Nymphalidae (subfamilia Satyrinae), reconocible por la mancha oscura del ala anterior que encierra dos puntos blancos y, en los machos, por una banda androconial (marca sexual) sobre el ala anterior. Los adultos vuelan de julio a agosto (ocasionalmente desde finales de junio en condiciones cálidas o meridionales), y prefieren los setos resguardados, los bordes de bosque y los márgenes de campo con matorral por toda Europa, con poblaciones adicionales en Marruecos y el oeste de Turquía. Las orugas se alimentan de noche de gramíneas finas, como agrostis (Agrostis spp.), festucas (Festuca spp.) y pojas (Poa spp.). En los jardines, los adultos liban abundantemente en orégano (Origanum vulgare), zarza, hierba cana y pulguera, por lo que plantar hierbas aromáticas y flores silvestres es una forma fiable de atraer a la especie.

The practical consequence is a maintenance instruction rather than a planting one: gatekeeper larvae feed nocturnally on the leaves and overwinter small, so a sheep fescue planting that is sheared to the ground in autumn loses them. Leave rough tussocks standing through the winter at the sheltered, hedge-backed edges the adults patrol in July and August.

Distribución
Presente por el oeste, el centro y el sur de Europa; ausente de Escocia (salvo registros meridionales ocasionales), Escandinavia y las zonas septentrionales del continente. Más allá de Europa, su área llega a las montañas del Rif, en Marruecos (norte de África), y a Turquía y el Cáucaso, en el oeste de Asia. Se reconocen dos subespecies de forma generalizada -P. t. britanniae en las islas británicas y P. t. tithonus en la Europa continental-, además de P. t. distincta (Rothschild, 1933), descrita de Ketama, Marruecos, cuyo estatus varía según la autoridad.
