Cambodia: 5 ecoregions. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.

Landscape and climate

Cambodia's five ecoregions split between wet and seasonally dry Indomalayan forest. The Central Indochina dry forests are the largest presence, with the Southeast Indochina dry evergreen forests alongside; the Cardamom Mountains rain forests bring true wet forest to the southwest; and around the great lake, the Tonle Sap freshwater swamp forests and Tonle Sap-Mekong peat swamp forests track the annual flood pulse. The resulting character is monsoonal, a hot climate with a pronounced wet season and a real dry one, plus vast seasonally inundated ground at the country's center. Plants here need to handle both extremes: deciduous and dry-evergreen species inland, rain forest flora in the Cardamoms, and flood-tolerant trees and grasses anywhere within reach of the Tonle Sap's rise and fall.
