Papillon de soie indigène des bois caducifoliés de l'Est. Les chenilles utilisent plusieurs hôtes ligneux, notamment spicebush, sassafras, tulipier, cerisiers, magnolias, liquidambar et frênes, puis hivernent dans un cocon enveloppé dans une feuille attachée à une brindille. Les adultes ne se nourrissent pas.
