La mariposa creciente perlada es una pequeña mariposa de patas cepillo de color naranja y negro cuyas orugas se alimentan casi exclusivamente del follaje de asteres nativos (Asteraceae), principalmente especies de Symphyotrichum. Las hembras ponen huevos en racimos en el envés de las hojas de los asteres, y la especie produce múltiples generaciones por año, por lo que las larvas pueden estar presentes durante gran parte de la temporada de crecimiento. Los adultos son visitantes generalistas del néctar en compuestas bajas y otras flores abiertas.
