Luxembourg: one ecoregion. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.
Landscape and climate
Luxembourg lies entirely within the Western European broadleaf forests, the large temperate broadleaf and mixed forest ecoregion of the continent's interior, ranked Nature Could Recover. That places the country squarely in beech-and-oak woodland climate: four real seasons, reliable rainfall spread through the year, cold but rarely severe winters, and warm summers without Mediterranean drought. The Ardennes plateau in the north runs cooler and wetter than the Moselle valley in the southeast, but both sit within the same forest system. Planting is correspondingly straightforward by European standards - the classic hardy broadleaf palette thrives, spring and autumn are dependable working seasons, and the main choices are about soil and exposure rather than surviving extremes. Native beech, oak, and their woodland understory set the reference.
