Liberia
Liberia: 3 ecoregions. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.
Landscape and climate
Liberia is one of the wettest corners of West Africa, and all three of its ecoregions reflect that. Nearly the whole country lies in the Western Guinean lowland forests, a tropical moist broadleaf ecoregion ranked Nature Imperiled that holds some of the region's last large forest blocks. The Guinean montane forests reach the Nimba highlands on the northern border, and Guinean mangroves line the lagoons and river mouths of the coast. There is no dry-country ecoregion at all: the climate is hot, humid, and heavily rained year-round, with a short drier season. For growers that means rainforest conditions are the baseline, drainage and shade management matter more than watering, and moisture-loving tropical species are the natural palette.
