Kuwait

Kuwait: 2 ecoregions. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.

Landscape and climate

Kuwait sits entirely within the Arabian desert belt, split between two Palearctic ecoregions: the vast Arabian desert inland and the Arabian-Persian Gulf coastal plain desert along the shore. Both are deserts and xeric shrublands in the Nature Could Reach Half Protected tier. The character is flat, hot, hyper-arid country where native vegetation runs to sparse dwarf shrubs and ephemeral grasses that flush briefly after winter rain. For planting, that ephemeral pulse is the one natural rhythm to work with; everything else depends on irrigation. Salt tolerance matters doubly here, from coastal exposure and from saline soils, so the reliable palette is desert natives, date palms, and proven xeric ornamentals, sited with wind protection and grown lean.
