Country
Guyana
Guyana: 5 ecoregions. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.
Landscape and climate
Guyana sits almost entirely under tropical moist broadleaf forest. The Guianan lowland moist forests cover most of the country, rising inland to the Guianan Highlands moist forests and, at the Venezuelan border, the table-mountain flora of the Pantepui forests & shrublands. The Guianan savanna - the Rupununi country - breaks the canopy in the southwest, and the Orinoco Delta swamp forests touch the northwest coast. Notably, four of the five ecoregions rate Half Protected, among the most intact forest landscapes anywhere in the Neotropics. The climate is equatorial, hot, and humid year-round, which for growers means rainforest rules: constant warmth, high rainfall, and a flora of evergreen canopy trees, palms, and understory plants, with the savanna the one place seasonal drought shapes the palette.
