Bangladesh: 6 ecoregions. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.
Landscape and climate
Water shapes every one of Bangladesh's six Indomalayan ecoregions. The Lower Gangetic Plains moist deciduous forests, classed as imperiled, underlie most of the delta country, while the Sundarbans contribute both the world-scale Sundarbans mangroves and the imperiled Sundarbans freshwater swamp forests. To the north and east rise the Meghalaya subtropical forests and the Mizoram-Manipur-Kachin rain forests, and a sliver of the Terai-Duar savanna and grasslands reaches the northern border. All of it is tropical moist biome except that savanna edge, which means a hot, humid, monsoon-driven growing climate throughout. Plants here must handle saturation and seasonal flooding as readily as heat; the hill margins offer the only cooler, better-drained subtropical conditions in the country.
