Country
Andorra
Andorra: one ecoregion. Each with its climate now and toward 2050, and its conservation tier.
Landscape and climate
A single ecoregion covers Andorra, and it fits the country exactly: the Pyrenees conifer and mixed forests, the temperate mountain forest system of the range Andorra sits astride. That means a genuinely alpine gardening climate compressed into a small area, conifer forest and mixed broadleaf stands on the slopes, open meadow above the treeline, cold snowy winters and a short, bright growing season that shortens further with every meter of elevation. The ecoregion is ranked Nature Could Recover, and healthy mountain forest is the backdrop everywhere. Plant choice follows altitude: hardy conifers, mountain broadleaves, and alpine perennials are at home, while anything tender depends on the shelter of the lower valleys.
