Paperwhite daffodil
Narcissus tazetta
The bunch-flowered narcissus of the Mediterranean: a tender bulb whose stems carry clusters of small, powerfully scented white flowers, each with a short yellow cup, above flat grey-green leaves. Unlike most daffodils it needs no winter chill to flower, so most gardeners north of USDA zone 7 grow it indoors as a forced winter pot bulb; outdoors it is hardy only in zones 7a to 10b. Every part is poisonous, the bulb most of all.
